Based on the mission of Istanbul Kültür University, which is to provide a qualified education that nurtures the talents that will shape the future, and to increase scientific, artistic and cultural activities and the mission of IKU Faculty of Education, which is to achieve teaching qualifications by practicing in schools in addition to pedagogy and field-specific lessons from experienced faculty members, The mission of the Department of Special Education is as follows:

To raise teachers who respect and defend fundamental rights and freedoms and individual differences, protect their own and others' rights, express themselves freely and comfortably, develop themselves multi-faceted, open to innovations and have a profession and lifestyle to learn and teach.

In order to realize this mission, our department's academic staff have adopted the following duties:
a. To train educators, researchers and leaders to work in the field of special education.
b. To try to expand, develop and spread theoretical and applied knowledge by putting forth research, scientific activities and products in the field of special education.
c. To provide resources and consultancy for individuals with special needs, their families and teachers / teacher candidates working / will work in the field by working with individuals with special needs, families, public and private institutions, schools and local, national and international organizations.
d. To develop valid solutions that can be used locally and internationally for the education and independent lives of individuals with special needs and to advocate for these individuals.
