Message From The Department Head

Dear Students,

Our Special Education Teaching undergraduate program under the Department of Special Education will accept you dear students in the 2022-2023 Academic Year. Being aware of teacher education is one of the primary elements of education reformations, in order to improve the quality of education in our country, we aim to train educators who have basic human values, adhere to ethical principles, are experts in their fields and are conscientious. As gaining speed from the successful and dynamic education history of Kültür Education Institutions and benefit from the knowledge and experience accumulation, we have the perspective and principle that will create a difference for raising equipped people of professions in our program. In this context I would like to indicate the principles we will follow in the education opportunities we will bring to you, dear teacher candidates: Respect for individual differences, self-knowledge and self-expression, critical thinking, living together, professional competence, creating added value, problem solving and decision making, research-based learning and teaching, participation and taking responsibility, diversifying and sustaining development, learning and teaching. adopting it as a way of life and touching the lives of others.

We aim to graduate educators who can take active roles and responsibilities in the education world. For this reason, we attach importance to educating our students with a democratic and participatory, humane and flexible educational philosophy. As a result of this, we think that we will add value to the lives of individuals in micro dimensions and we will provide added value to our country and international education in macro dimension.

Our special education teacher students will aim to provide the education that each individual needs, being aware of the fact that education is a fundamental right for every individual. While our students develop the academic dimension of their education with the field education, elective and general culture courses they will receive during their undergraduate education; They will have the opportunity to enrich the application dimension of their professional development with school observation, institutional experience, field studies and other application opportunities. Therefore, in our education program, we adopt an approach in which theory and practice are intertwined and support each other. Our program aims to graduate students who have a student-centered approach, who closely follow scientific and technological developments and who can transfer these developments to education and training practices, who have entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills.

Our department has adopted the principle of working with stakeholders, that care about scientific studies, in the field of special education in order to transfer evidence-based applications to the field and to meet the needs and problems in the field. For this purpose, we attach importance to the cooperation of our students with institutions and educators operating in the field. For this reason, every educator who is a member of our department will also become a member of the special education world and will not only attend classes but also be involved in various applications of the field.

I would like you to know that we will be with you at every stage of your academic development and support you at the highest level with the guidance and counseling services we will provide to our students in and out of classes. I sincerely believe that we can make a difference with this understanding.

We believe that the students of our department will be qualified educators who love to teach and learn and who can show unconditional acceptance and love to each individual, based on the fact that each individual is unique.
